Florida’s highways are often busy at all hours of the day with people commuting to and from work, visitors vacationing in the area and general traffic. Staying aware of traffic conditions and defensive driving can be helpful in preventing accidents. Motorcycle riders especially can benefit from being extra cautious on the road as they are vulnerable to accidents for several different reasons. Sadly, a motorcyclist recently lost his life in an accident in Volusia County.

Details of the collision

The accident happened early on a weekday morning on Interstate 4 in Deltona. This four-vehicle collision involved a motorcycle, a pickup pulling a boat trailer, a car and a semi. For unknown reasons, the motorcycle, which was following the pickup truck pulling the boat trailer, failed to slow down and struck the trailer. This resulted in the other vehicles striking the motorcycle after the initial impact.

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured in the accident. Authorities are investigating the crash to better understand what happened. At this time, no charges have been filed.

Dealing with the aftermath of a deadly accident

Losing a loved one in a car accident can be traumatic and can leave the surviving loved ones with questions about the cause and whether something could have been done to prevent the accident. Florida residents who have been injured in a serious accident, or those who have lost a loved one in a motor vehicle crash, may be able to pursue a civil case against the party at fault. Those who find themselves in such a situation can speak with an experienced personal injury attorney to understand how to proceed forward.
